Come join HYP at

The year 2006 marks the 200th year anniversary of the first Chinese arrival in Trinidad and Tobago as well as over 150 years of Chinese history in Jamaica. To commemorate the history and contribution of this minority community in the vast Caribbean region, these Chinese Caribbean programs salute the far-reaching influence that Chinese had on Caribbean culture and heritage.

Festivities include a Hakka Caribbean Cooking demonstration, Chinese in the Caribbean Film Showcase, photo exhibitions, and more.  Outside of Harbourfront Centre, there will also be many activities to partake in, including sampling of delicious Caribbean cuisine, arts and crafts, and stage shows.  Click here for the official brochure.

We'll meet at the Marylin Brewer Community Space at 1:00pm.  See this map for a map of the venue.

Come down, join in the festivities, and learn more about the history of the Hakka in the Caribbean!
